Sway bars. what to go for ?

well i wanna add some nice sway bars to my car. since mine is an lx did not come with one, so is it hard to install ? i think it should have all the hardware. also who makes the best ones out here ? i heard suspesnsion techniques makes the best. also if i wanna keep my 14" rims and the stock tires, will i have any possibilities to get the tire out of the rim during hard cornering ?

Since you have no sway bars, I would highly recommend the Suspension Techniques kit. It will be 25mm front and 19mm rear. Though the rear endlink setup is not the hottest thing out there, it works well and has a short moment-arm so it will perform well at the 19mm size. I plan to go with that same kit shortly myself.

i think the bars come in pairs don't they. i found them for 262 front and rear on the net. is that a good price ?

i'm not sure but i think mine has like a 19 mm bar in front.

You can get the bars seperately. I dont think I would upgrade the stock front swaybar. What size is your stock front bar now, Do you know? If its about the over 20mm, I wouldnt even mess with it. You should be fine. Id just replace the front swaybar bushings and leave it alone. Suspension Techniques bars arent bad, they dont have the greatest mounting setup, like 97CivicFerio but they work just fine. I would do some homework before buying one and see what else is out there. Check out Progress, Eibach, and Nuespeed also. I dont know if they make them for your car, but they are also well worth looking into.

Maybe it's oversteering on him, but that usually happens when you only have a rear anti-sway bar and no front one or a rear that's too stiff.

Maybe, but that would be really hard to believe with just a front swaybar and rear bushings.. My rear 21mm swaybar and stock front feels perfect to me. Nice and balanced.

if i turn the wheel just a bit the car starts going places. and who mentioned the rear bushings. i have them for the front end.

You have poly front sway bar bushings? If so, that may be partly why it feels too precise.

You should buy a rear sway bar, and not worry about the front one.

i dunno about on civics and accords, but on preludes the rear dosnt give half the feeling as both does. if you go with both you eliminate alot more body roll. if you can afford both, i'd say go for both. you wana keep your front a tad tighter than the rear, expecialy on a FWD. your rear will stay strait while your front flexs. and the ST sway bars are alot more sturdy that stock ones. a 22mm ST and a 22mm OEM arnt the same bar. oem is hollow and the ST are re enforced i belive

no, i don't have polyurethane bushings for the swaybar, just the endlinks and every other bushing that you can find in front.

4th gen lude: the front swaybar is not hollow. i tapped it with a hammer and seems like it's full metal. i think i need to look for some for my car. all i can find is for the 4th gen and up. i wonder if they will work since the cars have about the same chassis, and the springs and shocks are the same

27mm is a pretty thick front swaybar but it shouldnt feel to bad. You will definately know its there thats for sure.

OMG, this is for a Civic, right? a 27 mm FASB is going to create a lot of push through the turns. It might feel a bit more "stable," but you're going to be plowing like a biznitch. Try and find something a little less thick like a 23 and use a 21 or 22 mm rear ASB. It'll have more understeer than oversteer and should get rid of that "precise" feeling you're getting.

The slightest changes make the biggest differences when it comes to suspension.

Still doesn't make a difference. Anytime you have understeer, increasing the front ASB will only make it more pronounced. But if he thinks plowing straight ahead is better than "precise" steering. . . .

basically i'm looking for a rear sway bar(because the 4th gen accord DX/LX did not come with one). i just found the set and i was asking about it. also my front sway bar is 22mm thick. and by the way the car does not oversteer at all.

It obviously doesn't oversteer because it's a FWD Honda Accord. I've driven a 3G, 4G, and 6G, and they all lean towards considerable understeer. You should just leave your front one alone, as I said previously. Perhaps get the rear one, and see how it feels. If it oversteers, you know the rear is too big. If it understeers, you know the rear could be thicker or the front could be replaced for a slightly thinner one. Spring rates/shock valving also come into play, so it's just a big game of balancing and testing.

yeah but i need the money to test all the suspension options. so far i have just eibach prokits, and AGX shocks.
