vtec engagement light

Well while trying to fix my electircal problem (which i did), i decided to try to install a vtec light out of curiousoty. I wired it directly into the wire comming off the silenoid, put the led in the dash, and i couldn't believe that it actually worked. I know many of you think that it's rice, but it is handy when i'm whippin through corners and i'm trying to stay in vtec. I think my next mod is going to be a rpm activated shift light next to the vtec one.

ya need a shift light? i can look straight ahead, shift into 4th and 5th at the same rpm and speed every time. but if you can make something that'll come on at a certain rpm i'll be really impressed. you shift at same rpm for every gear?

yea usually i just about redline it or come close because i haven't spent the time to perfect my shifting rpm's in each gear. I figure the light will be really handy when i'm doing burnouts and i can't look at the tach to shift, hence i'll see the light out of the corner of my eye and grab the next gear.

i'm suprised you didn't use a resistor in there somewhere. you might want to right now, before something goes wrong later (ex. too much power make LED go boom boom!) But yes, great idea. One of those things I find hard nobody else thought of first

I think that it's neat to have one. I dont think it's a "ricer" thing. In my case, I have no need for it. My civic has a VAFC that tells me when VTEC is on. I dont need one on my Teg since I can hear and feel that thing come on......

yes i forgot to mention i wired in a 330-ohm resistor into the positive lead on the led, and i wish i could really feel it like a teg. Oh well, next step. Shift light.
