Free Photo editing software.

As some of you may know, photo editing software can be really expensive. Well, I wanted something half way useable for resizing, editing photos, etc. I ran across this software today. Its FREE! and it works really well.

http://www.gimp.org/

You can download the installs from here:
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

Install the GTK+ 2 for Windows (version 2.4.10) first. Then install The Gimp for Windows (version 2.0.5).

Play around with it for a little bit. Its fairly easy to use (the basics anyway.) Its definately worth the money! Oh wait... It was free... haha..

Sorry, I'm just playing about the cost. No, it really is free but its actually a really impressive program.

I used that when I had a Linux machine. Great software and you can't beat the price.

i've used it briefly. I like the filters and effects that come bundled (super easy to make a gradient). As far as useability goes, i wouldn't say its best.

but yeah, for a free open source project, you cant beat it.

I wish microsoft would take a cue from Linux; make an powerful graphics editor and include it on your OS. not this paintbrush garbage...I seriously think it is a cruel joke.

If your not against cracked software and/or not doing work for a business, then you can get just any package you want. I currently use a cracked version of PSP8, and its a fantastic package. 100 bucks is a bit much though. (psp9 is out, so i imagine the price has dropped on 8)

Often times, you can use their own site to download a "trial", and then crack that. Macromedia Flash 2004: download trial from macromedia using their fantastic server, get crack from mscracks.com, and there you go; 700 dollars worth of free fully functional program (it is NOT worth $700)

I've cracked my fair share of programs for "extended testing" purposes. Its nice to have a legit copy of stuff to work with.

actually, since you mentioned this I decided to see how the latest version was. They've made some improvements since I last used it, and must say I am pleased.

I'm still stubborn and like psp8, but the gimp is getting better.
