You could always do pulleys, cams, head work, turbo, nitros. Depends on how much you wanna spend.

^I fully agree
that dseries isnt gonna give you as much power as the bseries would and you can pick up a b16a sir2 JDM from osaka for a very good price ($2000) and then you have 2500 left to do a turbo or a good NA build

Should I go with the Japan-spec B16A which was used in the Civic SiR (In Japan), Del Sol, and most recently the 99 and 2000 Si or the LS motor from a Integra mixed with a V-TEC head from a GSR. I have heard that the LS motor mixed with the V-TEC head is a very strong motor that has low end and lots of top end, which is rare for a Honda motor, as that is what is lacking from the B16A. Also I heard that the bottom end of a LS is basically bulletproof as I plan to turbo my CRX. With the B16A, it is a lot cheaper to do and still has V-TEC, but lacks the low end until about 5500 rpms when the V-TEC kicks in and also lacks the torque that the LS provides. I would gladly appreciate the opinions of others.

Only $4500 eh? Swap it. Either go for a B16A (USDM) and some mods or go for the B18B and turbo it.

Don't focus on VTEC. It's not worth worrying about. There's a guy on here with a boosted B18B in a hatch. I doubt he cares about VTEC.

I know just about jack squat when it comes to building engines, btu I'm planning on grabbing this b18 from the junkyard and learning as I go. It say read as much info as you can (not internet, actual books) and then go at building your engine. this way your car has no downtime.
In the meantime, I'd improve everything else after you buy your engine. take care of your interior and sound system, paint job, brakes, etc. I'd wait on suspension just because a different motor may be heavier, at least in my case. I'll get susp done after the swap.

b18's torque numbers are much better than any other b series, i think. i think vtec is overrated.
