Brake pads

Its about time for some new pads for me, so I was wondering what would be a good aftermarket choice. The AEM ones look decent and don't leave nasty black brake dust?!?!'

What do you recommend???

I dont really auto-x or anything.. SO the one time that I changed the pads, I went with oem.

On some nights when the driving gets a litte intense, I could smell my pads melting away..

get the carbon fibre pads... its easier on your rotors and will not leave as much dust on your rims... esp if they are white

Oh white rims here...

how much more expensive than stock are they?

And which companies make street/mild performance CF break pads? Nothing to hardcore & high maintenance for me..

I'm interested in the CF pads, or I'll probably just get the AEM/Nissin pads.

umm well as to who makes them... well its a company that actually makes them here in ottawa and distributes to everyone else around north america.... The carbon fibre pads they make are quite cheap and cost about the same or a lil bit more than stock pads...
They charge me like 50 for both front sides... if you guys are interested in comming down here.. i can hook you guys up if not i guess i can see if they have a store in your area....
and trust me... CF pads are the way to go... its practically the same as the "green stuff"... i dunno what special thing they have goin on there..... but for $50 ya cant go wrong....
its worth a trip if your in montreal.... :: ::

I put my pads on last night, Still not really broken in yet and all ready feel way better then the stock ones did. Ill let you know how much better they are after a couple of days of driving. Ill also be watching the break dust to see what happens.. Im not sure how much Ill be able to tell since I have gunmetal wheels, the pads are lighter in color then the stock ones so Im wandering if its going to leave a lighter colored dust..

Both Nissin and Matrix (MM) are great pads for about $50 (front only), but I didn't see anyone rec EBC Green Stuffs. Excellent pads, least dust available, even less than Nissin, but they are at a premium price, about $69-$78 for most accord apps (front only)

they make rears for drums and pads too, also $$, but worth every penny.

Stay away from Bendix IQ, no gud at all.

i am new here but know a thing or 2 about brake pads
all of these pads are good but are going to do you no good when they get hot
i would flush my brake fluid and put in some high temp. fluid like motul or ATE yellow 200
no pad is not going to dust, some dust more than others, the dust is very corrosive too, except on several special made pads
it needs to be cleaned or it will eat away at your rims paint or polish
i do not suggest getting aggresive brake pads for the street if you do not know how they will react in certain situations. I use a pad called Carbotech Panther Plus on my car for on track and cannot use it on the street. they were specially built for my car and are pop-riveted to the backing plate to eliminate it coming off. I use Advance auto el-cheapo pads on the street and can still outbrake most cars because I know how to use the brakes.
