D17 Engine

Does anyone know if the new Engines (D17) in the 7th gen civics have interchangeable heads? Like to put a Ex head on a Dx Block.
Thanks in advance for the help.

that wouldnt matter.

you can put a D16Y8 or D16Y5 vtec head on a D16Y7 non vtec block. you can put a B16A vtec head on a B18B non vtec block. how else do you think you build a crvtec or lsvtec motor?!?!

im sure it can be done, i dunno whats necessary to make it work though and the gains you would get will probably not even be worth how much you spend.

Thanks for the help guys, i've been trying to find out as much as possible about this. It was just a thought. Especially since there probably arent too many of those engines in junkyards.

I friend of mine is putting a vtec head on a b18a1 block. The only thing is apparently it involves some drilling for the vtec wiring or something.

Yeah, someone told me that id have to have an oil line put in specifically for the vtec head. I'm still not sure if its worth it unless i come across a vtec head for cheap, but i doubt it since the engine is relativily new
