People Vs. Drunk

This past weekend while my car was parked out on the street some dude broke my passenger side rear-view mirror. He then went on to do the same to 3 other cars.

Good thing is, he got caught, and he's going to court, and eventually will have to pay for damages.

So, I'm thinking.... should I go off and get new mirrors? Or do you guys all think staying stock with mirrors is better? I have an accord coupe.

m3 mirrors? any ideas?

thanks!

oh okay, that makes more sense..well i always thought those were called the side view mirrors. anyways, i say stick with stock ones. i don't really like those ones that blink with your turn signals (are those the ones you're talking about?) just my opinion...

I went down to my honda dealer today and got a $300 price estimate for fixing the passenger side view mirror.. does that sound about right?

It was 180 for the mirror, 25 for paint/materials, and 80 for labor... with tax, 300.

So the kid who hit my car will be paying 300... should i take it and just get it fixed at the dealer?

should it be that expensive??

I dunno about the price, but if the kid's paying for it....the more expensive the better, right?

as I said last time, the cost of the Honda shop ordering the stock side-mirror is 175 bucks, plus 25 for paint, etc... Does anyone know if this price sounds about right?

Cuz since I'm getting 300 bux anyway, it'd be best if I could find it for cheaper, and bring it to them just for installation... make some cash to fund other stuff

thks

Also.. does anyone have pics of any aftermarket side mirrors that are installed?

I'm trying to look for them online, but can't seem to find any.

Some of the M3 mirrors online [example on ebay show them by themselves... before I buy em, i wanna make sure they look good...

All suggestions on any type of aftermarket mirrors are welcome.

thanks

I meant that I don't know if the price is good or not.

You could check a junkyard to see if they've got any around on wrecked cars. It's pretty hit or miss, but you could luck out. Then you wouldn't have to paint it, and you could probably install it yourself.

I've only seen one or two aftermarket mirrors on cars that were obviously aftermarket, they weren't on 6th gen Accords, though. I didn't think they looked good, but they were more a style to match an aggressive body kit. I don't see anything wrong with stock mirrors. I'd post pics if I had 'em.

Get a Written QUOTE from the Dealer for the Judge... then go to the junk yard.. even if you get a mirror the WRONG color, a body shop will paint it Cheap!
