faster internet connections? options?

Ok heres the deal. After waiting for cable modem access to be available in my area it has been delayed again Should I just wait another 3 months or should i start checking into other means of high speed access. I am so pissed off at my cable company for delaying it again and also im so pissed off at AOL for their crappy service that I cant think straight. What options do i have? I keep hearing the terms DSL and cable being tossed around and im ready to make a change because ive had it.

Sorry just had to vent a little. Im better now

Check to see if its available in your area.. My average Dling rate is 240k Sec... Installation is 150 Which is self installed (real easy)
They refund u the 150 with a Master Card with 150 on it... The first 3 months are 40 bucks a month.. Then after that its 50 a month plus u gotta sign a year contract.. Its sweet tho!

56K really sucks. I have aol and MSN. Don't ask! Stupid 400 dollar rebate when you get msn. Only problem is that I don't like it as much as aol and will have to pay a fee if I cancel my contract. So I have both but want Zoomtown.

It seems to me everyone has problems with AOL but me. It has been very good to me. Then again, there is nothing like a cable line. I have never moved so quickly. Maybe there is a correlation between my driving and my connection speed!! haha Anyway, if you wait, you will not be disappointed.

I would be a little leary of signing a year's contract - but that's just me. I pay $40 a month with no contract for cable access. I have vowed to never go back to a dial-up connection again.

Same here.. Once you've tasted HIGH SPEED internet, dial-up just cant cut it!

it cost me 250$ for install and 38$ a month..

but its worth it, you'll save LOTS of time!!

I have no problem with aol besides when I doing something important and it automatically logs me off. Nothing pisses me off more.

I've got DSL. I have no complaints here. Coming from 56k, its a world of difference. Just don't waste your money on ISDN.....

I have to say... If you can find DSL you may want to get it.. but chances are If you dont have cable modem.. You probably cant get DSL either.. I dont know though, it really depends on your phone company. Im thinking about getting cable here, it just became available last month so I seriously thinking about it... I have a satellite right now thats whats holding me back.

If you can get cable then go with it. Its great and your always on so you don't have to wait to dial up and all that stuff. Its definately worth the $$$.

If you cant get a cable modem you could look into a satellite modem. They are almost as fast a cable but they are super expensive. I think it is like 70 a month or somethin. Thats the only thing holding me back from getting one of them.
