Ok,

On your black piece that rides on top of the strut tower, (the part that bolts to your car...), the 2 rubber washers should sit in there. One on top, one on the bottom. And they should be pointed upward. Then, the little hollow (silver) metal tube clylinder should sit in the hole. Then, there should be another flat washer that sits on top of the rubber piece (top piece), then the brass piece goes on, with the lip pointed upward. Then, the screw should go on, but not too tight.

The manual doesn't come with anything? I could be wrong, but that is how my shock assembly came apart (OEM.)

well on the strut is should be the bump stop, then a special washer on top of it, then a big washer, one of the black bushings facing downward, the upper spring seat, the other black bushing, the upper washer and the nut. i hope this helps.

I have the haynes as well. The directions for uninstalling the door panel is really gay. On section 16, it says something like take of this, take off that, then go to section 18 to see how to take of this. Then in section 18 it says, take of this, take off that, then go to section 16 to take off this....
