another knocking sound

hey guys, I have an automatic 94 accord. when I shift gears, then start off rolling, but the second I step on the brake again, I hear a knock, like a hammer hitting metal. It doesn't affect driving the car or braking the car in anyway, it's just one of those annoying sounds. Anyone know what it is? Does this happen to anyone else?

then it's the brakes. one of the pads has no lining left. it's metal on metal. change them, asap or you'll need to change the rotors and they are a biotch to change
