Rev Limiter

Does anyone know how to remove or adjust the rev limiter in a 96' Civic Dx with the D16Y7 engine? I want to get a tach and remove the limiter it bugs the hell out of me.

Why would you want to remove the limiter?
Anyway you need to have the ECU chipped or re-programed.

To remove the rev limiter you would need to get another ECM. Either JUN, Apex'i, or whatever, it can't be done just with some after market jumped in ecm. I wish it was easier.

Because it is set to like 7100 rpms and I HATE it when the damn thing kicks in and kills my engine. I would like to shift when I want to, not when I HAVE to. It limits me and I hate being so damn limited!

well honda put the limiter there for a reason so your motor won't go booooooom. with a built motor you can sure raise the redline and remove the limiter, but if you motor is stock then boooooom is all i can see.

If you dont have much done to your engine. I dont think you should take it off. Besides 7100 is already pretty high.
Your civic isnt a race car.

Dont think about changing the rev limit.
