Maxtor vs Western

I need more storage space, so I'll be getting a 120meg HD..

now the question is
- Western or Maxtor ??

From my experiences, Western seems to be more reliable.. But I'd like some input on the matter..

I have three new WD drives, 2 - MB Cache, 80 GB, 1 - 2 MB cache, 60Gb. The 8 MB cache is much nicer and all of these drives have been extremely reliable. They put up with high bus frequencies well also.

my GF and I both bought external HDs at the same time. I got a Maxtor 80gb, she got a WD 80gb. Well, mine is running great, but hers is currently in pieces on my floor trying to be fixed cause apparently whatever the problem is isn't covered under warranty... and they tell us this and admit at the same time they don't know the problem... riiiiiight...

I have my faster computer (1.67GHZ) but I need to get more 80GB HD cuz no space to left.

Maxtor could be good.

its a tough choice. i use both equaly. i guess i'd give a slight edge to WD. they are usually pioneers for newer tech and they have pretty good reliability.

i usually use WD for my performance drive and maxtor for my backup.. if that helps you at all...
