Another most likely dumbass question

Ok...so can anyone tell me what the hell an image drive is? It's part of the Nero package but I haven't a clue what it is so I'm a bit afraid of enabling it...especially after what I did to my comp yesterday.

oh well it's not a dumb question, it's a very dumb one just fucking with you

anyway with nero you can create inmages off the cd and save them to your hard drive. Image drive is a program that will load the cd image and act as a regular cd-rom drive

^^^ Stefan nailed it. It copies the CD and then "pretends" that it has its own drive letter. Can work well for programs that need the CD to run.

And an extension of their answers, for completeness, an image is a full copy/replication of the data in question.....so a CD image is just a full copy of the CD onto a drive.

You may at some point hear the term of "installing from an image" which basically means the image is actually an entire copy of the hard drive's contents necessary for the install.....used mostly in corporate settings.
