Custom Piping vs cat-back exhaust

Hi! I was wondering if there were any significant difference in sound and performance between going to lets say a Meineke and getting a custom job cat-back over a commercial cat-back system that you buy?

differences arent really notable at all.....probably wont sound much different either, just really depends on what muffler you get when going custom.
i suggest to stay away from Focuz mufflers, my friend put one on his 98 Accord and omg it sounds SO HORRIBLE. ive never heard something so loud and bumblebee sounding in all my life. its disgusting. then again it could just be his muffler and others sound good but damn....nasty. he got the Dunk style one btw.

a couple of factors may take effect IF your car is heavily modified i.e. internal work and tuning. mandrel bent or straight flow is the most efficient, IMO. the material (stainless, titanium, or steel) may not be applicable after the cat, performance wise that is. you may also take into consideration the size of the pipe.......

I agree with Thermal. Depending on how the pipes are bent it will effect the perfomance of the car. There is a reason why those cat back systems cost so much. They really do research to make it the best.

I Installed my Tanabe RM yesterday and boy I LOVE IT! =) Tjhe deep tone is great! I have to test it later with the silencer to see how much of a difference it makes.
