starting a new system......first thing:speakers!

Ok! i have a 1996 honda accord ex. this would be my second or third setup depending on how you see it. I already have as a head unit the pioneer 8250.For speakers, fot the moment,i'm considering the Resolution series from Kicker...
kicker resolution components and also kicker resolution 6x9.
I was just wondering if any of you have had any experience with those speakers.if so,how were they.If not, what would you guyz suggest me for components speakers and 6x9 in the same category. by the wayt the components are 600$ canadian....
any suggestions are welcomed!!!

Welcome to HS!
Bell user.. humm, are you who I think you are?? Phil??

The components are 600$? Thats insane.. You should check out the Earthquake components, they go for around 300$ at DPB, and they sound amazing, plus they can play loud.

You could try listening to the 6x9 by Earthquake, cant remember how they sounded..

I have the resolution separates in my car, and I love them. What really drew me to them was the midbass. Very clean and very deep. I also think in car, they have one of the flattest frequency response curves in their price range. They're a little lacking in the midrange, but hey, they're 6 1/2".

If you're running subs, look at the Kenwood Excelon- tons of midrange, so they produce a very nice front stage. If you won't be running subs, beware- they don't have a lot of low end.

Just please, PLEASE stay away from a meal dome tweeter. It may sound crisp and clean at first, but you'll grow to hate it. After a while, it sounds "tinny" and shrill.

Stay away from oval speakers- just build a plate and drop in coaxes.

Also- make sure you have them crossed over before you install them. Wouldn't want to drp in new speakers and them be toast before the project is done!

If you got the money then get the Kicker or MB Quarts. Both are expensive but are well worth the $$$. They sound absolutely amazing. Personally, I like the Quarts more. The Kicker 6 X 9's are a good choice as you will love them.

i had 5 1/4 kicker resolution components in s10 xtreme. I had them runnin off a kicker zr460 amp and they were SWEEEEEEET. I traded 2 jl10w6's for em, the JL's were on there way out so it was all good. If you need an amp i'll sell you my kicker z460 that i used on the resolutions. it's a 4 channel amp. check there website for specs
