street racing in iraq #1

we were patrolling in a city in south iraq at about 7 one night. there were 2 hummers. one hard back and one high back. this race involves the high back and a horse drawn cart. we were just driving along and this horse pulls up next to our hummer and the guy in the cart looks at the driver of our hummer. our driver gives the rev and the horse takes off. so does our hummer. about a half mile later our driver decides that we are too far behind to continue the race. yup our hummer got beat by a stinkin horse. in our hummers defence though, it was one of saddam's race horses and our hummer had 8 Marines, 1 Navy Corpsman, and a translator in it. but yeah we got beat by a stinkin horse. we still haven't let our driver live that one down yet.

I'd hate to see the exhaust work on that horse.

That's kinda bad, but I heard somewhere that hummers aren't that fast. Guess that rumor is true.... Although I know the fastest a horse can travel is about 45mph. Even race horses.

our HMMVVE's were governed at 45. but our motor t section takes off some of the governers when they can. a HMMVVE at 80 mph is not somewhere i plan to be anytime ever again. they are not ment to go that fast ever.

i had to drive across florida (5 hours) in a hummer(h1, not the pussy h2 ) . not the best ride in the world, expecially with 4 people a cat and a dog in it.
