raced in a 02 mustang GT (slow)

Ok here's the deal I was at the track and I wasn't racing my car because no 3rd gear. But anyways my friend had his new 02 gt stang there it was pretty slow for stock I thought it would be a little faster then 15.7@89mph (or something like that). They are slow I wasn't impresed at all with this car. The car I raced was my friends 95' GT by the time I shifed into 3rd gear he was done but then again it has 457rwh and runs 12.2@120mph. I felt super slow. Heres a picture of it

Umm... you can run much faster than 15.7 in a new GT.. this probably had to do with the driving.

It was the frist time I ever drove a Mustang but I just expected more out of it. It probably was my driving because I wasn't used to it. The blue car in the pic is my budies that thing is crazy fast.

yea new GT's aren't as fast as they "should" be, 95 GT's were hecca faster cuz still had the 5.0 engine. one of my buddies has a 95 steeda stang, with quite a few mods, his latest was nos, but its a fast azz ride i must agree, that blue one looks sweet

15.7 is REAL slow for a new GT. My friend's ran a 14.6 completely stock.

I like the 95's alot more then the new ones I'm still tring to get used to them. I know not everyone likes domestics but the new 2003 mach 3 is going to be sick. 12.2 out of the box.

OK guys, not trying to be a dick about what i say.

But a new mach one will not run 12.2, they didn't even pull that out of a new cobra and it's got more power.

15.7 out of a new gt? I'm sure you spun the hell out of it and the mod motor mustangs clutch is weird to me, at least the one i've driven. I have a friend that ran a 13.8 bone stock on street tires. Now these cars should run 13's easy but if you can't drive then it won't.

And a new gt will tear up a 95 gt stock to stock all day long.

Thats what I thought 15.7 is realy slow for it but like I said before it was my frist time ever driving a mustang. When I launched I was sitting at like 2500rpm. It didn't spin to bad out of the hole but I think it was that I just wasn't used to it.

What do you mean by the mod motor mustang clutch was weird to me mean. Was it the stock clutch, how much power did it have? I wouldn't think someone would have a stock clutch if they had some good mods.

And 13's all day on street tires is that at sealevel? Because if it is I can believe that but we are at LACR one of the shittest tracks out there. It sits at like 2600ft+ so that effects alot. I know you can pick up at least 6th tenths of a second at sealevel. I can see new GT beating a 95 Gt stock to stock.

Whoops I forget some people don't know about mustangs and here I go talking like you know. By mod motor I mean modular motored mustang, which is what they call 96-up stangs. The one I drove had an aftermarket clutch, same one that is in my car but it felt soft to me. My clutch is pretty stiff i'm told but I couldn't tell until I drove a focus the other day. The guy i know that ran 13.8 was here at ennis in texas. I have no idea what elevation we are at but i would guess close to sea level.

HAHA, Just pick on us import kids. I know what you mean know it sounds familiar(sp?). Does stangnet have a forum called modular motored stangs 96+ is it kind of like how 94-95's are called like SN or something like that.

I'm not sure if they do or not. As for SN, it has nothing to do with the motor type. That's just the platform name for the chassis, like 79-93 mustangs are fox4 chassis.

OK. With the new Mach 1 it was like 12.9 and the new Cobra was 12.5 or something close to that. I was way off.
