140dB of rice for you....

Just thought it was pretty funny. I took my car to the shop yesterday and the mechanic pointed out several disturbing things. First, the 02 sensor (that I just installed with my headers) was resting up against the flex-pipe and pretty well melted. Second, my engine was completely bone dry of oil... I guess thats what happens when you got 6000 miles w/o an oil change. Finally, he also let me know that the welds on my muffler were completely broken. So, I check it, and damn... he's right.

So, long story short, I pulled off the muffler today (a 20lb muffler coming off the back-end of my car at 60mph would be a very bad thing). And now my car is LOUD AS PISS. I mean, before it was loud, but now... Christ. I don't think that 140dB is that much of an exaderation.

Tomorrow I am going to order a new exhaust and hopefully I can get it before this time next week. I will have install pictures, in case anyone was curious.

I am going to order the Greddy EVO exhaust. Your bro was trying to convince me on the Thermal R&D but I just like the way the Greddy looks and know how they sound.

Your brother can get me a pretty sweet deal but I need this thing pretty quick and when I tried to call him today, he was kinda... umm... busy with his lady friend.

completely bone dry of oil huh? thats not good. also its not from a long oil change interval, its either cause you got a leak or its being burned.

Yea, I know that the oil doesn't just disappear on it's own. I burn a tiny bit when I get on the gas. I'm just saying that if I had checked the oil sooner, I could have replaced that which was burnt. Anyway, for now on, I am definately going to be better about keeping my maintance schedule.

I think the thermal would be worth it if its that good of a deal(I know he is able to get me some killer pricing). Alot of people have been very pleased with either one though.

a 98 burning that much oil in 6k, never, not unless you have a plugged PCV and it's a sludge motor. i think someone forgot to fill it with oil at the last oil change personally. that or your drain plug was left loose and leaking for all that time.

The 99-00 Si's burn oil. Its like that on every one of them. The dealers will tell you the same thing. Granted they burn about 1-1.5 quarts per 3000 miles.
You should always check your oil on a regular basis anyhow.

yes that's normal on a high revving motor, but on his car that is NOT normal.

and if you driove and Si/Prelude/S2k below 5k it'd never burn a drop.

i know what he dealers say, i'm one of those techs that everyone hates.
