Gathering winter project ideas

So I thought that Id start gathering winter project ideas for the cold, bleak, salty, whiteness that is winter in michigan.

So far I have:
Relace leather wheel cover
P/S removal
Install civic em1 front map light
A new "Civic" emblem (mine's all flakey)
ITR MC Brace
TechnaFit coated Stainless brake lines
I guess I'll paint my y8 valvecover too...maybe jdm penis pink?
(Maybe preemptive oil pressure gauge install?)

I plan to do one project every weekend...and this should get me through the 3rd week in January (Feb if I do the oil gauge), if I start the 1st of December.
I need at least 8 more projects guys and gals.

Whatcha got?

you're eventually going to swap the y8 right?

wtf is Install civic em1 front map light ?

i think you should try to do a jdm interior, so basically take out all of your interior parts, paint em, do the red carpet treatment, shift knob and boot and all the other jdm goodies. Not sure what you'd do about a steering wheel though because i thought i heard the nice 3 spoke honda jdm wheel from the ctr won't fit on our civics.

you could also paint your calipers if you want to, and haven't done so.

oh here's a good one for ya, i saw a write up in the september 2004 issue of honda tuning where they installed these special frame locks in a stock civic si and said the handling improvement was unreal. Here's the link to their site and it explains about it, sounds like a easy mod and i think they cost about 2 bills.

well...
yeah the y8's getting pulled for ls
the ctr wheel does fit but Im not spending 400+ on a wheel
the red carpet is too expensive for what it is - used red carpet
Id rather have my si/prelude knob
em1 is civic si 99-00 - they had a map light where the bulge is between the visors
my calipers are bbq flat black and I like them that way
frame locks....maybe. But they are expensive.
I already painted my interior parts in my ricier days...never do that again - even black
I might get a "jdm" airbag blockoff tray though (its actually euro/canadian...so I could add another edm part )

Mostly I wanna do inexpensive things...so I dont have to dip back into the engine fund

Suspension:
Koni yellows, h&r sports, oem si/gsr (favored) front upper bar, rear upper and lower bars (ebay specials) front/rear ex/si swaybars, new mugen ta bushings, spc uca's.
I dont really plan on upgrading the rear bar any larger than what I already have, mostly because I dont like how it handles w/ larger bars for daily driving... But, if I do, I'll have to buy the a-spec racing plate and even then I'll go w/ the itr bar (thats about $300+)
Im against polybushings because they dont allow for enough flex, cause binding, and squeak unless lube'd.

Im happy w/ my system too. Im not a big fan of all kinds of this's and thats. I have a quality alpine mp3 deck and good alpine speakers.

My suspension is done
My brakes are mostly done (except the lines and brace)
My system is done

I would like some del sol seats, but the year and style I want is hard to find and when I do, the seller wants too much or theyre ripped/torn/smell like smoke.

I do have to buy some winter tires this year (blizzacks). That'll be $300-ish too...but I cant call that a project

(sorry dude)
I Guess Im just reaching a point where I have to dive into the engine things...but I dont want to keep the y8. Saving doesnt make much of a project.

Maybe I'll just have to buy several gundam and car models...build those to take up time.

why waste the money. save it for the c1 and boost it when you get it.

Im choosing ls-turbo
If I went c1 Id go all motor w/ some ctr pistons and stage 2 or 3 cams and valvetrain (either toda or skunk2).

I just love turbos too much though.
(Though in reality I shouldnt go w/ one because w/ my luck it'll blow up)

You wont blow it up dude. I know that you're not a ricer and gonna try pushing to mega-psi boost... speaking of LS, I found and pulled another one from the boneyard. Paid $180 for the whole swap (minus tranny). I sold it for $250 ha ha..

Anyway, my goal is 450-500 whp on my Teg this winter time. Selling some of my stuff already. Here's what I have a head of me:
-Upgrade to a full-race style turbo manifold
-Install MSD 6 or 7 ignition, cap, blasterSS, and 2 step
-Install 680cc or 720cc injectors
-Install JG/edelbrock IM (already acquired)
-Upgrade to Aeromotive FPR vice my B&M command flo
-Precission SC61 or Turbonetics/Garrett T3/60-1 turbo
-Redo my downpipe
-Downgrade my Fluidyne full radiator to a half size dual core
-Upgrade pistons to a 9.5:1 to 9.8:1, undecided on which brand yet. I have a few friends who can get me a deal for about $820 on pistons/rods kit
-Cunningham or Full-Race/Manley rods
-Darton Sleeves, bore/hone to about 83-84mm

Dyno tune.... again. If I have money left, then gotta get the car painted....

I'm broke as fuk. That is just my current plan. Of course during the project, something will come up and I will not be able to get some of the items I listed. But either way, I will hit those HP numbers even if it takes me till next Summer. My daily driver is running strong again like when I first boosted it ever since I replaced the head gasket and clean the crap out of the pistons. Like Pdiggs, I plan to do it all myself except the sleeving since I have no access to a machine that will install the sleeves correctly. Goodluck to everyone. Keep everybody updated and take pics

I know I could make some money selling parts too....if there were a good jyard around here to pull stuff from (its so aggravating). It'd be a good side money maker....which is why you do it... Im stuck doing construction stuff and actually working for my extra money...

Nah, I wouldnt push the motor very far w/ boost...I just have the worst luck on the planet.
I only want a max of around 300whp...after that I think its pretty pointless for me. 250ish would do it probably well enough....but with 300 I could walk from anything around here (aside from the few dsms that I know of and hardcore giants of domestic) pretty easily.
(Plus if I do kill it ls parts are "cheap" compared to gsr)

I know I could do this crap now..but Im too responsible. I know I gotta pay for the rest of school... I know I gotta pay for the insurance on her... I know I gotta have fun money... (that and I blow money on dumb shit like the nearly $100 sephiroth statue...)
-
Therms I envy you so much w/ that teg project. Its sexy as can be, and more power than you can shake a 10ft pole at. I hope it lasts and lasts for you...so you can make it even better, of course. The new parts/plan looks fan-tab-ulous.

what pins do you have? whats wrong w/ them?
(I hope youre not planning on not using them in the future)

Have you thought about hood locks instead? Theyre a lot slimmer than pins and keep people out from under there too.

i think they are gonna be like 10-20% off retail prices at www.absdynamics.com shipped. i was trying to get more people locally to buy in so we could split the shipping between us. that way it was a bit cheaper for all of us, but if anyone is up for the ride to west side of cleveland is more than welcome to. i know you pat have about a 2.5 hrs drive to my place. i will keep anyone posted on the prices.
