clutch????

how does the car react when the clutch is going out? Whenever I floor it now my rpms rev high and there is a slight delay then accelerates, is this my clutch going out? I just had my slave cylinder replaced about 2 weeks ago-could it be the slave cylinder again?

Sounds like the clutch is slipping.

One way to test:
Stop, put the car in 4th or 5th gear, rev to around 3k rpms, and dump the clutch. If it revs a little before dying, that's a sign of a dying clutch.

Should be a pretty nice clutch. Make sure to get your flywheel resurfaced when you install it.

I think I will be charged about 200-250 for installation of the clutch and 30-40 for resurfacing of the flywheel.

That's a good deal. You'll be happy with an aftermarket clutch

My clutch has been going out for 2 years now When I got the car, you practically had to hit the floor to engage the clutch. Two years and 40k miles later, it's still holding out.

that doesnt mean your clutch is going out, just have the throw of the pedal adjusted, I had my mech do that and it helped a lot.

you should always put the pedal to the floor all the way, and only slip when you have too, for smooth engagement. I think of a clutch as a binary system, 1 or 0, on or off. anything in between is bad

Yea... tranny work isn't cheap. I would recommend trying to go to some local performance shops, and see what they can do. I remember when I got my springs, a shop wanted $100... i looked around, and everyone else wanted $350+ (places like Tuffy, Action Gator, Sears, etc.)
The labor at the performance store should be cheaper because the mechanic probably isn't ASE certified... they're just "the guy".

I just got my clutch this morning and I already dropped off my car to have it put in. The shop is charging me $325 for complete installation and that includes resurfacing of the flywheel. I thought this was kinda on the high side. You are getting hosed man!

Just got back from looking at my car in the shop, the flywheel was totally f**cked up, it had a bunch of hot spots and a couple of cracks. Lucky for me the shop had 4 or 5 flywheels just laying around and they are going to give me one for free. Now I am just waiting for the flywheel to get back from the machine shop.

Cool. Things always work out in the end. I really have no idea when I am going to have to be doing this :\ My clutch has 105,000 miles on it. I got the car at 70k, and have been driving it hard since, so the clutch probably won't last me another year :\

Got my car back from the shop today and it drives like a brand new freaking car! I'm a little bummed about the break-in period though, 300-500 miles without racing? I don't know if I can resist for that long! The new clutch engages kinda harsh and I killed my car twice today. How exactly are you supposed to drive while breaking in a clutch? If I drive 500 miles on the highway in one day will my clutch be broken in or is 3-500 miles supposed to be city miles or does it matter? I also had a valve cover gasket replaced which was causing me to burn oil and I knew this because I had oil on the sparkplug last week when I changed it-- this is fairly common problem on hondas.

I broke mine in for about 500-600 city miles driving very slowly, not shifting over 3k, etc. I then stepped it up for another 400 miles driving like I normally do, but not fast... and then finally I drove however I wanted. Broke in very well as far as I can tell.
