depending on the oil/filter you could go another 3k miles. how many miles has it been since the last change and what was put in?

You should be ok , you really "dont have to" change your oil at 3,000 it's just safe... depending on what you use some oil company's claim there oil is safe in your car for 10,000 mile's....

Just do it yourself it won't take more than 20 min's... and will save a you some money...

Mobil 1 rocks!!!

my aunt went 30k miles w/o changing her oil
I just did it last month for her

the filter fell apart in my hand and Ive never seen oil so broken down...it was so black it looked like it would suck out your soul. It was also almost pure sludge...

As long as you dont go that long...youre ok.

Like others said... why not just do it yourself? You can use better oil/filter for less money. Takes only a few minutes of your time too..

i don't think 200 miles over 3k is too much. if you ever read the owners manual honda reccomends the oil change at 7k miles. there usedto be an article about oil someplace here on hst. even at6k miles the oil had about 50% life left in it

Solution: cheap ramps. If you need help with the actualy oil change, just ask!

1) warm up car so oil is a little warm
2) drain oil into something
3) remove filter
4) install new filter
5) make sure plug is back in
6) add new oil

A strap wrench or filter socket, oil, and filter are all you need

yea, I always change my own oil. My GF argues that having it done by someone else is cheaper, which is true. Except for the fact that they use really cheap oil and crappy filters most of the time.
Doing it yourself is pretty easy once you learn how. just learn where the Oil Drain Plug is,(typically the lowest bolt on the driver's side of the car, at least that's where they were on my accord and on my Prelude. It's 17 MM in size...at least that's what it is on my Lude) and where the Oil Filter is(typically it's right above and a little to the left of the Headers, find out what one looks like and it'll be a cinch to find.), follow 94 Accord EX's instructions, and you'll be good to go!

I got my oil changed last week, got a free coupon. And the guy washed my windsheild and opened my door for me but i would like to learn to do it on my own, they charge people almost 30 bucks for that!

I don't go an inch over 3000 miles, mobil 1 10w30 every time. Changing oil is so cheap and such a vital part of maintenance, it hardly seems smart to skimp on it...

None of us can actually say that its great because we havent driven 100k miles using only mobile1.
Anyone that uses it is just saying its great because everyone else does.
We have no true experience (at least no one on this board...or any other I can think of).

Think about what you're saying though. Is oil something you really want to skimp on? My oil and filter cost $20+ and that's not including labor. You're probably getting some pretty cheap stuff for that. Its probably not a big deal, but still...

well for the past 90k miles i used some crappy oil too and the engine is still running strong as a mofo in the accord. too bad i have a bad crankshaft/balancer oil seal.
the car is running just fine like that and the compression is almost as good as new: 190psi@250rpms as opposed to 195psi@250rpms

Actually...I can say it's that great. As part of a fuels and lubricants class we got to measure the coefficient of friction for different lubricants. Different motor oils, transmission and diff. fluid, etc. I haven't a clue exactly how it's measured, but Mobil 1 beat out everything except Amsoil (I'm pretty sure Royal Purple would've beaten it too, but we didn't have any). So yeah...I now use nothing but Mobil 1 10w30.

i work at a toyota, mazda, and mitz dealership and we have had a mazda 3 go 33k without an oil change before it blew the motor. then we had a montero sport go about 40k with one oil change before it blew. i'm not saying u need to go that far but just to give u an idea of how long it could take because i had a friend go 125 miles over and he locked his motor

i use mobil 1 5w30 with honda filter

Mine's too low w/ the lip.
Whenever I go anywhere for service, I take the bumper off beforehand.
Sure, I get a lot of looks like "WTF?" and "HA" and such...but at least the lip doesnt get wrecked.
(Its a lot easier to remove the whole bumper than it is to take off the lip)
