Got a weird idea, maybe it'll work?

This is a crazy question but this idea popped into my head somehow.

A while back, i bought LED lights for the rear part of my car, they're nice looking and they work well. Well one day at work, i was sitting through this presentation, when the dude broke out a laser pointer. I was thinking, well those are bright, much brighter than LEDs...

So i got thinking, would there be a possible way off hooking up lasers to the tail lights, or something in the back, and have a cap that will disperse the light, so its not just a point. I'm sure they'd be illegal if they did work.

If you stepped down the voltage to something usable, do you think it'd work?
Have any of you seen anyone work with lasers on their car before?

Thanks for any feedback

Lasers causing cancers? Where'd you get that from? I'm not saying it's not true, it's just the first I've heard and would like to learn more.

A more significant, likely, and immediate problem is that lasers can easily cause blindness. The coherent light is very intense and can damage your eyes. I would strongly advise against using lasers on your car. You may think you set up a good dispersion system, but unless you're big into optics I wouldn't do it.

edit: typo
