1st Gear Synchronized?

Hey I just bought a 1984 Honda Prelude with a Dual Carb 1.8 4 Cyl. I was wondering is 1st gear suspost to be synchronized? I can't shift into 1st when i'm moving, I know your really not suspost to downshift to 1st, but I am use to shifting into 1st right before I stop at a stop sign. I didn't know if it was suspost to be like that or mabey im doing something wrong? This is my first Honda.

THANKS,

Ryan Fields

you can shift into 1st if you give it a little gas to get the gears spinning, its not a good idea to do though it can wear our BRASS (bad idea honda) synromesh transmition, just use 2nd
