someone.....anyone

Anyone give me a little insight on that noise in my earlier post "Transmission Noise". Still looking to take the car possibly...if I knew what it was and the price it'd cost me to fix it. Excellent shape for a 94 with 17's and a few little extras. Offered it to me for $2200...but it just had that noise.
Tks ahead of time. Maybe I stumped the tuning gods....when i wnated to least.

Ok, I read your other thread and it's kinda hard to tell what it is without actually hearing it. That sounds like a great deal, even if the tranny has some problems. I would go ahead and buy it if I were you, maybe offer her $2k for it. I would think that if you were gonna have any problems with it, you could probably get it fixed with that $200 that you saved. So I say go for it.

also, does the noise get louder when the RPMs rise?

You could get a used one for a few hundred(200$-$300) or a completly rebuilt one for like700-800$(estimate). Or remove the tranny yourself (not that hard) and have that one rebuilt for between 200-600$ depending on whats actually wrong.

I have tranny noise, it makes a metallic whine at exactly 2500, 3000, and 5000rpms. The shop said its the bearings so I'll have to get them replaced and while their in there I'm gonna get the synchros replaced. I just need to get around to taking the car back in.

I believe the noise did get somewhat higher as RPM's rose....but it was in 2nd and I'd quickly shift to 3rd where it soon continued....i didn't know what it was....didn't need to mess her car up....I just didn't know what the hell it was....I'm goin to try to get back to her...actually have and told her I want it for less.
Would I be able to replace the tranny myself......
