clunk in engine compartment when brakes applied

when i apply my brakes there is a clunk noise in the engine bay...... what would cause that? wou;ld it be the motor mounts???? i'm completly clueles, and need advice

In most cases it will be the engine mounts.. Probably the one towards the rear.


But very rarely a noise like can be caused from something else.. Forgot what though, I'll know tonight..

If your car has a good amout of mileage on it, its probably the mount.

Well, I would at least check the motor mounts first, and if that's not it, we can go from there.
