I totallly agree...some songs are pretty catchy with the beat, but that's because the beats are pretty similar also. And yes, too much gangsta stuff now.

The reason that they rap so "gangsta-gangsta" is because they are thugs.

Thug...f@g...same thing. Seriously guys, explore music with a little more depth than talkin about shootin niggas and smackin hoes. That shit just blows.

Whats wrong with shootin at niggas?

Whats wrong with smackin up hoes?

Why are thugs considered F@gs?

Are F@gs considered Thugs?

What LP's out there have depth?

Is Britney Spears' "In the Zone" a deep albulm?

Isnt that new Nelly Furtado joint HoTTT?

They don't really do it. They rap about it to make them feel like big men when really they're petty and insignificant.

Most women deserve more respect than to be smacked or called hoes. It's wrong to pigeonhole all women into "hoes"

They're f@gs in a derogitory sense...not a homosexual sense. They contribute nothing worthwhile to society while leeching whatever they can from it and contributing to it's decay.

I dunno...I suppose some are.

Take your pick...there's tons. If you need a starter guide:

Miles Davis - B!tch's Brew
Story Of The Year - Page Avenue
Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Nick Drake - Way To Blue
Blackalicious - A2G
Onelinedrawing - Visitor
Far - Water & Solutions
Bad Religion - Process Of Belief
The Movielife - Forty Hour Train Back To Penn

I could go on and on but there's a good starter kit.

Ummm...no. But hey man...I'm not here to tell you that you shouldn't go out and buy it if that's what you're into.

GT40, there are some rap singles that also have depth to them, you just have to find the right ones!
The reason these tracks are so popular is because they have catchy beats with words that are made to rhyme to them. It's easier to pop this track on and just listen or "vibe" to it, you don't have to listen to the words or anything.
But I agree with you, if you want something with depth, rap isn't the best stuff to listen to...well at least MTV rap isn't. It's the "hidden" tracks that don't get over played on radio stations and promoted on MTV from albums, or the underground/unreleased tracks that usually have nice meaning to them.

Download tupac - changes, mama was a little girl, dear mama, shorty wanna be a thug.

That's just one artist...

those two new black eyed peas tracks...etc etc.

I hope you get where I'm coming from.
Oh and just give those tupac tracks a try, all of. Listen to them while reading the lyrics to them. I believe you'll agree they have some meaning even if you don't like them. Or maybe you'll still hate them since it's rap, I'm not sure. Just try em...

commercial music does not have too much if any depth to it.
