Opinions On PaceSetter Exhausts

I currently have a PaceSetter Cat Back system on my 1998 Honda Civic EX. I was just wondering what your opnions were on that type of exhaust system. How much horsepower does it add? Is it a good quality exhaust? Let me know.

it is considered a low quality exhuast. You get what you pay for, and I imagine you paid around $150 for it. As far as power gains, that would be dependant on anything else you have done to your car. the exhaust by itself, I wouldn't expect to see much. dyno is the only way to really know. If you do that, post the results, I'd be interested in seeing the numbers.

1) pretty much anything that will increase your exhuast piping size will show some gains but very minimal in a none turbo engine...
2) i heard bad things about pacesetter, bad quality. never own myself, but from what i heard i wouldn't ever own one either

Well i have replaced my cam gear and cam, pulleys, converter with a wide open type. Mugen chip, AEM Intake. And I paid about $210.00 for the PaceSetter exhaust.

it is not really looked well upon
theyre bends are all/mostly crushbent
they rust really quickly and then get holes in them because its so thin
theyre loud too

This would have been a good thing to ask BEFORE you bought it though

Expensive things cost that much for a reason...they work, last, and are safe.

Well, I have had the exhaust system for a little over a year now and there is absolutley not rust on it. And from what I saw, the bends in the pipe are smoothly curved. Not crushed or crimped. And the metal is not really that thin. It seems pretty thick to me.

if its workin for you, its all good. maybe they got they're act together and churned out a better product...hehe. That's almost like saying APC makes high quality crap. but anyway...

it sounds like you've got a good start on your car. put it on the dyno and see what it comes up with.

I finally found a place in Eastlake, OH that has a chassis dyno. They charge about $100 to hook it up. I am getting it done really soon. I'll post the results when I get them.

It sucks....I had it on my 96 civic ex coupe, and it sounded so nasty, so raspy, like there was a clicking noise coming from it when i got on it, and its yellow, and its just eww.....so i put a Tsudo muffler on it, and kept the pipes, and it sounds so much better...omg, so much better, lol....

here's a pic of it...eww....

If it works for you then thats great.

Most of us might seem to have negative opinioins of it because we have spent 400+$ on our exhaust systems alone.
