question about the hood release

My hood release on the inside is broken the plastic broke. Can I buy just that peice or do I have to buy the whole assembly(release and cable) ?

you mean the lever ? if that is broken it comes only with the cable

i know wat ur talkin about , and yes i think u do have to buy the whole assembly.....go to Honda dealership they sell em....

It's the Plastic lever inside in the kick panel the little piece you pull to pop the hood.

You should be able to ghetto that. Just get a little sheet metal bracket, maybe wrap it in hockey tape for comfort, and screw it into whatever's left of the release lever (or pull the broken lever off completely and attach the rod to the bracket using the existing hinge.

Same thing happened to me. Someone on the forum told me that I would have to take off my fender to put another cable in. Cable is around $50, but it is a pain to take off the fender just to pop the hood so I now use a wrench to pop the hood that I keep in the car.

I have checked all the junkyards around here and none have any civic's. I can get one at parts.com for like $30
