Bird Sh!t Remover

Ok, I just cleaned my car today and couldnt get rid of the bird shit residue off the car. I scrubbed hard with soap water terry cloth towel. The shit wont come off.

I kept the bird shit on the car for about 3 days and now it seems permanant. Does anyone know any type of cleaner that will remove it without damaging the glossy paint?

no... this one dont dude. Im just hella scared that its permanant. I tried scrubbing over and over. It does not make a difference at all. When I feel it with my fingers, all I could feel is paint. It seems like the shit ate my paint. Its still yellow like bird shit, but it wont come out no matter what I do.

Yep, you got that right - permanent! That's the #1 reason I cover my car...

Bird sh!t has acid or enzymes or something in it - whatever - and after it sits for a while, it eats into your paint. In your case, it probably etched the clearcoat on your car.

Anyway, the only way I've found to get rid of this problem is using a clay bar. This is my weapon of choice:

If that's too radical for you, I guess you'll just have to live with it. Sorry!

Here's a short article on 'bird crap' and automobile paint jobs, in case you think I'm full of it...

I cover my car whenever it's practical - like it's gonna sit for a few hours. Been doing it for years. I use those cheap car covers from Pep Boys. They only cost like $30 and they last for a couple of years. They're easy to put on and take off, once you get the hang of it. The trick is rolling them up when you take 'em off. Kinda like packing a parachute.

Does it work? Here's a snap...

Covers tend to 'dust' your car, especially if it's windy, so I also carry a 'California Car Duster'...

Anyway, I carry a can of foaming spray window cleaner with me, and a shop towel. When my ride gets crapped on, I spray it, let it sit for a couple of minutes and CAREFULLY blot it off. Don't wipe it off, otherwise it'll scratch the finish. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries.
