Are Pop-up Ads Driving You Crazy...
I've tried several 'Pop-up ad killers' over the last couple of years, but there always seems to be something or another that conflicts with my 'surfing' habits. None of them are perfect, but I wanted to let ppl know what I'm currently using, in case you want to check it out. It's called Bayden PopupPopper and it's freeware.
Bayden PopupPopper works as good as anything I've tried, it's simple, and it's freeware. Here's their URL: http://www.bayden.com/popper/ Let me know if you're using something better...

i use earthlink pop up blocker. never had any pop ups, not even the ones that need to, plus you can put entire sites to unblock the pop ups.
 on a scale of 1-10 i give it 8.5

I used to use Tiny Personal Firewall.
It's freeware and if you configure it right it won't even let you go to a site unless you say it's ok. It also stops programs from sending info in/out including windows or any other MS product. IT IS GODDAM fantastic. It's a REAL pain to use/configure but once you have it set up it is UNREAL how much control you have over I/O. Oh ya and it tells you when your getting scanned by who and they're IP. TEE HEE

For general web surfing I use WebWasher. Free for private home use.
I'm not sure if it's spyware free or not, but then again I don't really care excessively. It blocks web bugs, filters ads from web pages, eliminates almost all popups (only 1 site has ever gotten a popup to pass through it and the WebWasher people couldn't duplicate it), will block java, and has lots of general customizable options. It'll block whole sites if you'd like it to. It doesn't block everything, I have been to sites that still somehow manage to change my Homepage in my browser or automatically add things to my favorites, I haven't figured out how they do it yet. I thought I had it locked down pretty well. Overall I rate it well. It is a boon for modem users since it filters out ads BEFORE it downloads the data so it'll improve download times for general surfing, or so they claim. I've only used it on high bandwidth networks. I rate it very highly but there are some sites where it must be turned off for proper functionality depending on how you configure it. b |

I used to use a small program called PopupKiller. Not sure who made it. It did the job.....now I just ALTF4 them. I dont' seem to get THAT many nowadays.
Maybe you guys should lay off the free porn on the net    |

you get one with alot of sites that are non-porno related... btw porno on the internet is gay... get a girl!
As for what i'm using its "Popup Ad Filter" works like a charm. Its been there for ages and i haven't even noticed any problems so i guess its all good. |

i use pop-up stopper. i got it from download.com and it works really well...it even stops me from opening new windows
but thats a small price to pay for the all out brute strength that it is |

This is one of the reasons the proggie works so well; kinda weird seeing this happen, but don't let it worry you. The new runtime files won't hurt your computer in any way... And, when you run it, turning on your 'Scroll Lock' blocks all popups. This is what I do. Otherwise, it will be ask you if you want to block popups every time they occur. CTRL-key temporarily allows popups when you hold it down. Very simple proggie, but takes a little getting used to, like they all do.
