f23 sohc vtec parts
This coming spring i'm hoping to put an f23 sohc vtec engine in my 91 accord. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some performance parts for it. Like pistons, cams, rods, etc. Thanks

The f23 wont do much performance wise.. If its just a replacement, then ok.. Otherwise, you might want to reconsider.

my friend has a 1990 EX 2dr 5spd Vtec accord. He has had bad luck finding things for it. so i believe his swapping to a different motor.
he has found pistons and rod at aries.com. what he has bought so far: AEM True Time cams, Injen RAI, Engine Dress up Kit, DC Sports Headers and Cat Back. ill get him to post on the board. so he can tell you personally.

did he swap the engine or something ? because no -90-93 accords came with vtec in the cb7 platform (90-93). also the f series engines are considered weak because of the non stelar power they make 125hp-150hp. it's all because they have a low compression ratio (under 9.0:1--8.5 on mine) making them great engines to turbo. Also the valve train seems pretty weak with a lift duration of around 100 degrees (looking on mine) get a more agressive cam, some headwork done to it(pnp) an adjustable cam gear and some higher cr pistons and i bet that engine will be a different animal. the f series engines are barely touched in terms of tuning, plus i see them very reliable, since i went over the rev limiter on mine few times to around 9k rpms and i got only valve chatter, nothing else. Also the f series have the power range pretty low compared to the other ones like h, b and d series. do we have a winner here ?

he swapped becuase of a major problems that he was having. he didnt want the f22. so he got a f23a. i think he is going to make his 90 accord a type r. Swap f23 with a h22.

a h22a is not a type r engine, but the h22a7 is, plus that won't make his car a true type r. i looked over the prices of h22a versus the h22a7 and it's a $2000 difference

Even though that's not a type R engine, even if you had a type R engine, the car would still be whatever it started out as. Engine doesn't make the car.
