Adding a DIN sized DVD/SVCD/MP3/CD Player. Power wiring how?

Alright, I got myself this awesome single DIN sized DVD/SVCD/MP3/CD Player and it came with a power cord to install in the car. It says it needs 12V. What do I connect the red and black wires to? Please do not skimp on details here. I've looked everywhere online and cannot find an article about installing an extra DIN sized device. I'm so confused!

I've never really messed with wiring before so I need some good advice. Thank you all so much!

Not sure if this post should have gone into the 12v wiring/car alarm section... Still, I need help nonetheless. Feel free to move it there if you want oh great administrator!

You'll need to connect the black wire to ground.

The red wire can be t-tapped into your accesory wire, which will make your dvd/cd player come on when the car is in accesory or on position.

Sup man, noticed your in the LA area, we should meet up some time

I think by "T-tapping" he means you basically connect the positive red to the positive red wire of the accessories.

go to www.jdmfan.com and go to their articles. I do believe there is one that discusses the installation of such an item.

Thanks man. We should meet up, though my ride is still a major work in progress. In about a year I'll have be ready to be race tested. And I don't do street racing. The only thing I think that's worse than prison is getting my license revoked!

Argh, that article there did not solve my problem. It only shows where to plug the cable coming out the back of the cd player in to the radio. Nothing about what wire specifically to attach it to. I do need some help here!a PLZ!

I need someone who has done something like this(AND I KNOW MANY OF YOU HAVE!)to tell me exactly what to do plz!!!!

the black is your ground wire. and the red wire is the power. so you can hook the red to whatever 12v you have in your car or anythign that supplies power for example your current head unit. if you don't know what your doind i wold subjust you take it to a pro to install it because if it is connected to the wrong wire then it could cause a major problem.
