New to the Pistons

Well I am new to Hondas and to this board. I am making the switch from my RX7 which will have a new home hopefully next week. I am looking forward to being able to do work on my car for a change. The project is an EX model civic that will run low 13s or high 12s. First thing I am doing is rebuilding the bottom end with forged goodies to hold up to the nitrous(temporary) and a supercharger in the next year. I am 28 and live in Dallas. I sure would like to hear from some locals if there are any. In any event, take care and I will keep you posted on progress.

Thanks for the welcome. I have a good working lmowledge of engines(I sure hope I do anyway, that is what I am going back to school for!) but I will have some questions regarding Honda specific applications. That said here is my first question:

Why can't one simply switch a B16a head to say the current 4cyl block in a 95 EX civic. I am assuming that the bolt pattern is off...any input there?

Welcome to the site man....Good to have ya.
And well my guess would be the bolt patterns. Go to the civic section under the cars and ask.
Lots of knowledge there.

yeah I figured it was the bolt pattern. I hate when that stuff happens At any rate, I am looking forward to jumping right in and having a ball with this little endeavor. I will keep all posted of how it goes...on a side note, I had what will be my last kill tonight in my RX7...silly boy in stock GS Eclipse with a fart can on the back. Well now it is time to killem with PISTON POWER!!!!

It is a 90 GTU. only 70k original miles and not a scratch on her. A few small add ons but my favorite part is the factory installed 4:30 rear end...handles like a dream.
The reson I am switching is that there is not alot you can do to a non turbo rotary, and second turbo rotaries are like complicated girlfriends...they always need constant attention to keep them happy, and when you do something to them to make it right again, you are usually messing with the wrong thing...I also need a back seat, little niece of my girlfriend to haul around once in awhile.
I looked at a one owner 93 civic ex today...flawless. I have been in the car business, sales, repair, all of it, and this is truley one of the cleanest cars I have seen for that year...of any make. I really thjink I will snatch it up. Every..and I mean every service record and it really was owned by a couple old folks that drove it around the country putting highway miles on it to see grand kids. If it is still there Monday I will go get it. I can pick it up and still have a few grand from selling the 7 to add some goodies
will keep all up to date.
