The Run Down on LS/Vtec

can somone who knows what the hell there doing explain to me how this can be such a horrible set up? Wouldnt a GSR head be a little more compatible with the stroke and a high comp piston?

Here are some articles written by an old mod on why he dislikes it.

Go look in the Integra forum. There's a thread in there briefly explaining it.

Personally, I don't think it's "such a horrible set up." I always figured that using a b16/itr head would be a better pick over the gsr head for a few reasons. The B16 head because of its cost (lower) and simply because it flows 5.25% better..allows more air - CFM. The GSR head doesn't flow as well because it doesn't allow as much air as a B16 head does. The ITR head is the same as the B16 head, only it's mildly ported by Honda themselves. Then again, according to some charts, such as Alaniz..which builds the fastest all motor hondas around...their chart shows that the GSR head flows better and that the difference in CFM here and there can easily be atributed to casting differences. Either way, the B16A has a bigger combustion chamber over the GSR, 42.7cc to 41.6cc, which is one of the reasons it is the prefered head.

Hope this helped.
