Motor options for an 86 Prelude

This is my first post on this site and to be very honest it feels really weird since I am a Mustang guy. Dont hold that against me please.

Anyway I know jack about Hondas or imports except how to bolt crap on. I can swap motors and rearends out or mustangs everyday and never break a sweet.

I am buying a Honda as a daily driver. Its an 86 Prelude Si 5 speed with 200k + miles on it. I am buying it for like $500 and everything else on the car is great. I am trying to figure a game plan in case some thing blows and I need a motor.

What are my options and please go slow because when you guys start throwing engine numbers at me I am lost.

Any help is appreciated and if you can point me to websites that can help show me whats involved that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Steve

I'd ask in the lude forum.. not sure how many people post there though...

also try honda-tech.com they have LOTS of tech heads there...

I don't think you have many options... it has a 2.0 si motor now right?

if not I think that's about your only option... but again I'm not sure at all...

the majority of engine swaps are put into civics/crx's...

the prelude 2.0 is a NASTY engine though... and it's overall a pretty peppy car... you being a mustang guy won't think so but you'll get used to downshifting for neccesity instead of fun...

good luck.

and don't worry there are quite a few mustang dude's who post regularly.

Consdering that it is a B20A, you could probably swap in the newer B20B/Z.
