New best Quartermile time....with new exhaust

I had a custom exhaust done friday. It's simply 2.25" pipe directly from the cat-back. I decided to go with no resonator and had a Flowtech Warlock muffler added with a twin 2.25" tip. Previously, with stock exhaust, I ran 16.8 at 80.9mph and couldn't squeeze off any better time. Today, i ran the following:

R/T: .516
60': 2.509
330':6.907
1/8: 10.611
mph: 66.09
1000':13.817
1/4: 16.520
MPH: 82.92

I'm really happy

BTW, The muffler new is like 65bucks and the piping was $125.
It sounds really good too. Not too ricey and has a deep tone.

yep. I don't know if I am driving it better or not. Before the exhaust, just with the CAI, I was running Consistant 16.9s with a few 16.8 sec runs. After the Exhaust, I ran consistant 16.6's with 3 16.5 sec runs

Nice driving. Looks like the exhaust really helped you out.

ya..it almost sounded a tad fast for a civic EX..to me at least..i have short ram intake and exhaust..with a slighty heavier car....and i hope i hit high 16's..:o

how many times you been to the track??? that is a variable i would DEFINATELY consider.... the stock unit is fairly restrictive... and the numbers you posted are definately believeable... i just think that the improvement has to be something else also.. probably a combination of getting a little better at it... and the exhaust...

I don't know....this was my 3rd time to the track in the civic. I was launching at 3,800rpms and riding out the clutch a little bit. 3,800rpms seems high, but if i launch any lower, it bogs. I am working on getting some better tires so i don't get such a bad 2nd gear scratch and so i don't have to ride out the clutch off the line.

yeah then there is definately some learning curve factored in as well.. i bet the exhaust did help a little but i bet the learnign had a lot to do with it also

yeah...you're probably right.

Just out of curiosity, would I pick up any time if I wrapped my intake tube and exhaust manifold in the white Header wrap, for heat reduction. I'm just curious because when I ran the two 16.5sec runs, I let the engine cool down for 30minutes. I figure I might be able to run a little better with less heat.

who knows about the heat wrap.... dialing in a car (18sec or 10sec) so that it is the saem EVERY run is VERY difficult.. i mean i ASSUME it would not hurt to make the air intake tem as cold as you can... but i just dunno if it is gonna be THAT significant

That's a Really Darn good 1/4 Time for just Exhaust... I'm willing to bet you probably got a few skillz, but don't let it go to your head.

The Heat tape is a good question, if it does gain anything, it's going to be very small, not worth the Ghetto'fied Engine bay look, IMO. I'm sure it would help keep the air a little cooler on the air intake, but the exhaust manifold, i dunno, i think the air might already be heated at that point, and it might be worse of to insulated it. I could be wrong.

i'm thinking about getting a good 4-2-1. I think I'm going to do underdrive pulleys and an ACT Clutch first though....I dunno.
