Which Program to DL Music?

Soo I reformatted one of my computers. Happens to be the one with all of my music on it. I was using the Turbo "Pro" version of Limewire and it was great while it lasted. However, I downloaded it from a friend via email. To get that version again, I have to actually purchase it...and quite frankly I am too ghetto for that. I ended up installing the Basic(free) version of limewire today and it kind of sucks. The variety of songs are much more limited and it seems like it lags just to play another song while a song is already playing. What programs are you all using and which would you recommend?

I'm dyyiiing without music.

mp3search.ru <-- it's not free, but close enough. ~$1.60 for a full album, good rips.

...and bersIRC, combined with packetnews.com

using bittorrent or any p2p software for music and movies is just asking for trouble. Thank the DMCA!

I use Bittorrent or KazaaLite (which is getting harder to find these days). You could always crack Limewire. If you've got a version that let's you insert a serial number, you can always use www.serials.ws to get a crack for it. I'm a little hesitant about recommending that site since it's hard to navigate without getting loads of spyware, but unless you can find a Limewire keygen somwhere else, it's kinda your only shot. I don't have any problem with P2P stuff so long as I'm running PeerGuardian2. If I see anyone looking in that I don't like, I can just terminate the download until they stop looking (no one will email you about a half-downloaded song). Really, as long as you're not actually sharing files you're not in much danger. I used Kazaa and KazaaLite (and the earlier version, Morpheus) for years and didn't have the slightest hint of trouble until I started sharing when I got cable. Then *WHAM* two very polite emails from BayTSP telling me I'd shared files that weren't mine (no shit). All I had to do was delete the files (although if I'd disabled sharing they never would've known if I still had the files, anyway).

mIRC is a good program, too...but it took me forever to learn how to use it (all of that /j or !list or /whois and !ping crap) and I've probably forgotten most of it over the years. Trust me Lyna...that's not the way you wanna go. You get frustrated too easily.

It was easy until I stopped using it for a while. After that all I could remember were the basics. Plus, if you don't have someone to show you how to use it, it's pretty hard to fet the hang of. I used it all the time in high school...but I haven't used it much at all in probably 2 or 3 years.

For the odd song, I use a really old version of bearshare. Don't have any songs available for sharing. If the riaa, baytsp, etc catches me in the 5 minutes or so it takes to download a song, then I have the crappiest luck ever.
