Brake blues

My brake pedal does not like to be hard enough when i press it. it is soft like sh*t. i tried belleding them, it stayed up for 3 days and then back to "normal" (low and soft). even when it was like it should be the braking wasn't so efficient as before. what in hell shall i do ? Changed the front pads (worn like hell), bleeded them, tried to adjust the rear shoes, and i can't find the damn screw. I looked at the shoes and compared them to new ones, they are almost unworn. Please help, this is driving me insane :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

check your lines.. you might be losing pressure.... thats all i can really think of.... i doubt its a hole.. but you never know... if i think of ne thing else.. i'll hollar back...

inspected the lines and no signs of leaks. I'm thinking about some messed up gaskets in the pistons, or the master cylinder needs replacement. anyway the fluid got dark all of a sudden befor anythink of this started happening.

what fluid are you using? how hard are you on brakes? what do your rotors look like? are you having to keep filling up the brake fluid? Is your resevoir top on all the way?

i'm not that hard on brakes. i think my rotors are out and need some replaced. Fluid Prestone DOT 3. The strange part is that all of a sudden the fluid turned black, so i guess the master cylinder is out.

If your not losing any fluide and pads/disk are somewhat ok, then I'd say its the master cylinder.

To my knowledge..

regarding the master cylinder..

It's a common repaird for hondas..

So if your's is still the original, then check it out.

Master cylinder is goin to more than likely be the solution for you..

check on ebay and www.thepartstrader.com and you should be able to pick one up for a decent price....

you can measure your rotors with a micrometer to tell if they need to be replaced. Do your rotors have any grooves in them? What about inconsistent coloring or a "glaze" over them?
When was the last time the fluid was changed and who changed it?

I would also venture to say that your master cylinder is going bad, but there are others causes to this problem. One is moisture buildup in your lines. Other is pockets of air in the lines. another cause could be pad and rotor glaze.

ok here is the list of work done within the last year and a half on my brakes:

-changed master cylinder (rick case honda)
-changed the brake pads twice (myself)

rotors have some grooves and i've been advsed on replacing them by ganley honda. Brake fluid turned black all of a sudden. I made my rotors red hot during some rally, so i guess they really need to be replaced. I think they are warped. I got some loot over the weekend and i'll go get the disks and a new master cylinder. What shall i use to clean and paint the calipers and the brake drums on the rear ? Will engine enamel be fine (high temp) ?

if your rotors got red hot then something is wrong...... you have to be running your car very hard to get rotors red hot. On stock pads, or even upgrade pads at that temperature they will not do anything to stop you. Sounds like your rotors are glazed or warped. Good luck with it, I just changed my rotrs again this weekend, only took 2 hours.
