Has anybody ever cleaned out their intake???

Mine keeps clogging up and I'm tired of paying 300 bux for someone to clean it out. Anybody ever tried to clean it out themselves?

You paid $300 for someone to clean your intake? A new, aftermarket AEM cold air intake can be had for less than $200.

Is your intake stock?

Are you talking about getting your EGR ports and fuel system cleaned? That's different from the intake.

well lets see..

i had a timing belt, waterpump, cleaned my throttle body and intake manifold, and a valve adjustment at a HONDA dealer for 700.. so 300 for the cleaning is rediculous..

He's not talking about air intake. He means the intake manifold area.

You wouldn't beleive the crap that gets into the manifold. My friend just pulled a b18a1 from an integra. took the manifold off and there must have been a 1/2 inch of carbon and black shit all up in there. Basically you go at it with a pressure washer and let it dry real good. Thats assuming you removing the whole unit from the engine.

yeah its my manifold....sorry for not including that......gets clogged up cause the car idles for about 5-6 hours a day 'cause i'm a gopher for a company here in town. I had it cleaned out in NOv. of 01 and now it needs it again, but I want to do it myself. Just wondering if anybody as done that with it on the car....i saw that some guy said he pressure washed the manifold OFF the car and said that worked.....that seems easier to me than bending over the engine and scrapping/drilling the carbon deposit crap off.....can the manifold be easily taken off??.....I guess i mean can it be done by an amatuer mechanic with good tools in an afternoon?
