18" or 17" and how low can you go...
2000 3.0L EX Coupe:
I want to drop the car and add 18" to them. A friend said that he thought 18" would rub underneath. I am curious to know if this is true. Also, the car has a smooth ride now, how low can I go without jeopardizing the ride too much, since I will have 17" or 18" the ride will be less comfortable already, correct? Basically, I want the car to look smooth but drive smooth also...I don't plan on racing it or doing anything crazy with my baby... Thanks for the input... |

You can fit 18s on a 6th gen with no problems. Get the correct offset. The ride will be slightly bumpier due to less tire cushioning, but you'll be fine.
You could drop 1.5-2" and have no problems. Ride stiffness depends on the products you get.

What size tires should I go with if I choose the 18"s and what products for dropping the car 1.5" for the smoothest ride (as in comfort and not too bumpy)? In other words, I want smooth ride over performance since I don't plan to race her...just take the ladies out in my baby...
94 Accord EX recommended Eibach pro-kit springs with Koni yellow struts...any other suggestions? This is my first Honda and modification. |

I recommended that before I knew you just wanted comfort, and now I'll re-recommend the pro-kit/koni combo. You'll pay around $550 for the Koni yellows, but it should be well worth it. They have 5 way damping adjustment from stiff to fairly soft. If you'd like to save some money, KYB AGX struts will work for that drop. Theoretically, stock struts would work for a while with that little of a drop, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I pretty much want the best product money can buy...as stated before, I prefer comfort over performance because I am not racing. With that said, do you still recommend Koni yellows and pro-kit combo? Where can I find the best prices for this combo?

For comfort, I do still recommend these. Best money could buy in my eyes is purely performance related, but your ride quality would suffer greatly. I'd wait for some other opinions though.
You can check www.groupbuycenter.com for good prices. Also, there are two versions... one has the front two struts externally adjustable only, and the other version (~$40 more) has all four adjustable. You want to be able to adjust all four externally. Shox.com also has great prices. When I was looking at them, they had the yellows for ~$540 and I think around $190 for the pro-kits.

trev there are no AGX's for the 6th gen accord. i haven't seen them yet.
also i would say go with the prokit/koni yellow combo

I have Eibach ERS springs with Ground Control coil adjustment and Koni shocks and my ride is pretty damn comfortable for it being lowered...oh and I have 18's on 225/40/18's.........

you can drop 3.5" no prob without rub on 18's....
tire size you can go is 215/35/18 even a 40 series youd be fine in... as for shocks... the best by far (and i have it in my car too) are the GAB 8 way adjustables...... they are (IMO) better then konis or tokico.... |

oops my bad.. i didnt read that part... well a 2.5" you'll be fine... just make sure you have a good setup of struts under there wher eyou can adjust the ride.. the wells of our accords are very huge so a 1.5-2" drop will sitlll kinda look high.. 2.5 you should be fine without sacrificing the ride...

The lower I go, doesnt that effect the comfort level of my ride?
What do you guys think of the Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs - 2dr 6cyl EX - Front Lowering 2.0" - Rear Lowering 2.0" Or the Skunk 2 Lowering Springs - 6 Cyl - Lowers Front and Rear 2.25-2.5" Also, I heard that if I use Koni Yellows, it will drop the ride just a tad bit more too...is that correct? Let me know your thoughts... |

If you want to go as low as sportlines (possibly settle to 2.1-2.2"), those are great springs also. Be advised that you'll need a camber kit if you go that low though.
