Beat an 03 Cobra without even having to crank the lil Gee Tee over!

I saw an 03 cobra and figured I'd see if he wanted some. He said "yes of course"... we drove back with him following to my garage. He took one look at my poor little geee tee 4.6 supercharged turd on blocks and say "naaah" I don't want none.
Just thought I'd share... beat him without even racing. LOL.

Car is just about ready to go.....

Here's a pic... she's a little dirty but almost there

Pic of new engine, same blower as before... old Vortech "S" trim super < yawn >.

Take care and thanks for reading.

Let me explain something to you real quick first ok? First thing is... I haven't always owned a MUSTANG and had a 92 Eagle Talon AWD TSI Turbo before the Stang. Therefore, I do know quite a bit about the boosted side as well.

Sorry that you feel that I'm not welcomed here. I tend to feel that with my background and experience (since I built my car myself), I do have plenty of knowledge to contribute.

Besides, sure this is a "Honda" site, however, ... isn't it really about cars in general and we all share the same goal ------ to go fast? Or am I mistaken?

If everyone feels that I'm not welcomed here, I'll gladly bow down and leave. I just wanted to share a little humour and this isn't my first post by any means so how about cutting me a little slack here?

hondamaniac,
Thanks for the kind words man, I do very much appreciate it. This car has been a serious work in progress and I've been tweaking things since I bought it in 98 brand new.

Take care and good luck with your ride!

Thank you,
Tim

I never said anything to knock your taste in automobiles or your car. I just find it kind of funny that mustang owners found their way to a site call HONDAstyle... I give credit where credit is due, and didn't in anyway mean for you to feel unwelcome. I didn't realize you were so sensitive.

Props on a nice stang, even though I can't stand those things.

Understand. I'm not that sensitive... I just don't care to get bashed because I drive a stang just like you don't want to be bashed for what you drive. I don't play favorites and treat everyone the same no matter what brand they decide to buy.

I come here to learn just like everyone else and have no beef with anyone nor am I bashing anyone. I genuinely just wanted another site to get involved with

Nothing liek scaring them without cranking it over.

Props on the ride man. When is it gonna hit the track/dyno?

I don't think delsolvtec meant any harm. This is a car fanatic board. Yeah the names HondaStyle, but we love 'em all. Well most of us anyhow.

you sure it was an 03??
even with all your mods, a stock 03 could probably take you.
i doubt he tried racing. I'm not starting an argument at all.
03 cobra's have 425 hp at the flywheel and 370 rwhp stock with a T-56 and u have an auto. a s/c 4v is better than a 2v s/c 'ed ever will be. with just o/r pipes and a cat-back they have about 400rwhp. add a lightning blower pulley and they do mid 11's.

I was looking into getting a 99 or 00 cobra until i started reading about how they weren't making the HP ford was claiming, something about the compression being too low because of improperly made engine parts. I do like how they have independent rear suspension although they've had recalls on some of that stuff too. I'm not too impressed with ford.

where did you get those #'s? The 03 cobras make 390hp at the flywheel.

those numbers are in just about every factual magazine.
5.0 Mustang and Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords had dynoed the 03 bone stock at 377 rwhp. they test new mods and dyno it just about every issue. the car is VERY underrated, just like the 2000 Cobra R. they were even thinking of changing the HP rating to 425. They keep it low for insurance reasons.

the 99 cobra had the "power fix" problem. the car was only putting out 270hp instead of 320. they were all brought back and fixed and have a green dot on the manifold to indicate that. they also have a # on the mufflers. The IRS likes to hop on the 99's and they still had the T-45 so wasn't too impressed with it. there is no 2000 cobra. the 2001 is one of the best cobras ever made. it has the tremec transmission with all the bugs fixed from 99. it has the nicest interior too. i was lookin at one but definitly could not afford it. i am only 18 and going to school. i search my house for change just to get gas by the end of the week.

Actually that "power fix" didn't even solve the problem, they just went around it and basically added some bolton parts and reprogrammed the ECU. There wasn't a 2000 cobra cause they hadn't fixed the problem from before, they even stopped selling the 99's for awhile. One of the reasons they probably went with supercharging this year is probably cause they had the crappy parts left ovr from 1999 causing a lower compression, so they just lowered it alittle more and threw on a blower. Why would Ford care about how much people are paying for insurance? Is there some huge jump in insurance between 390hp and 420hp?

your so right. im glad we're getting a wave of decent non-honda'ers here. honestly. i love having more "interaction" with our opponents, or in the case of a SC gt and a svt cobra.. our dominators. i know im into the car scene. not import, not honda, not domestic, just pure all around driving/performace. for me, i'd rather have my car running good times for its mods, then having so much hp that i can run 11's but its crazy. 11's will get me arrested. i have a problem backing down from people who call me out, and i think it would happen too much with a 11 second car.

I just have a problem with domestic owners coming on here just to say their car is faster than a Honda and that spending money on a 4banger is a waste and BS like that. When will they learn that you don't need 8 cylinders to go fast???? And when will they get a life and stop coming onto import sites just to start crap?

I understand it was a joke, but the fact of the matter is some people take it personally which fuels unneeded discussion.
