Hearing wierd noises...

Ok so when im driving, if i go above 40 and then push and hold the clutch in to go to second or first its sounds like something is reving up...but it only does it before i put it into gear, once i get it in there it stops... and only if im going over 40... What the hell is that?

TO clarify a bit i shift into second or first like when im slowing down or a light or to go around a corner or something of that nature. and then i release the clucth at the right speed...

its pressure on the...pressure plate...i think. I have the same thing in mine. It should be hard to put it into first if youre going over 10mph (safety thing) and the whiring noise (would that be a good word for it? noisemaker kinda thing?) I dont know if this is the right sound or even if its from the pressure plate but I was told once that it was that.
