The start of the install process...
Here's what happened when you try to make too much room in the garage, the car accidentally rolled back into a workbench while tryin' to drive the car up on ramps... there goes another $300 for a CF trunk, its gonna be painted of course...

Here's a before shot of the engine bay, current setup: AEM Short Ram/GReddy EVO.

Here's an after shot after working on it for about 2-2 1/2 hours.. we took the bumper and headlights out, disconnected the aem intake and exhaust manifold, drained oil, removed oil filter, and lastly assembled the exhaust manifold/turbo/elbow together, then i went in the hot tub!



This install will be continued this thursday since my buddy will be working...and my lucky ass will be bummin' rides of people for about a week! We'll keep you guys updated...

Ive read reviews from the kit on a y7, but I wanna know what its like on the 8.
(Eh actually you'd be better off selling the intake elsewhere...Im lookin for under $15 becuase Im just gonna hack it up and make a diy icebox...but Im too chicken to cut up my akimoto)

Lookin good pare. You'll love that kit. I know somebody who had used both kits and is more content on the 19T kit than the 15G. Have fun and take your time. The oil lines will be a pain in the ass but will surely be worth it.

speaking of oil lines... i have a quick question... the oil pressure sensor looks like it can be taken out with a wrench but we don't have a big enough wrench...crescent wrench is too big to fit in there...what do i do to get it out?

Good luck with the install, glad to hear you finally came up with the $ to do what you wanted. As for the oil psi sender go out and purchase a cheap wrench to get it out, did mine so long ago I cant think of the size you'll need, sorry. Could use a locking jaw pliers, but, if you dont have a wrench I'm sure you dont have one of those, costing too damn much.....and you'd be risking breaking the sender all together. Get a 6" or smaller crescent. Brainstorming.....

Yea you better mention my name, seeing how it is my garage and the blow off valve is actually mine, lol.

I don't have a wrench that big, cause most things aren't that big that I have encountered, so I never bought anything bigger than a 17MM wrench. Also, we tried using locking pliers, but we couldn't get it to fit on there right, we will try again. And the crescent wrench is too big, we'll figure something out.

Yesterday (3/3/04) we weren't expecting to do anything because I had to work, but I went into work late and we ended up being able to drop the oil pan.

I never heard of Drop Fest, it's in June? and at the Great Lakes Dragway? If it is, we will both be there thats for sure.

it might be, but i'm sure the oil sensor is 24MM... the o2 sensor i'm not sure about because i used an adjustable wrench

o2 is 22mm

slowly pull the wire off. Use a deep socket. I used an adjustable wrench on mine, I think. That sensor shouldnt be too tight since you probably have not pulled it out before... it should be still torqued properly. If it starts pissin you off, get a GReddy oil filter "sandwich". Nice shit man. It has 3 holes that will allow you to later tap in for an oil pressure gauge. I'm using all 3 of them for my set-up: turbo oil feed, oil pressure, and oil temp.

Hell yeah.... well worth the money. It makes it easy. A few reason why I bought it. Having a filtered oil to my turbo and just the ability to "aim" or position the fitting the best possible way.....

so what kinda quarter mile times are you looking at on this kit? compared to the previous greddy kit for civics?

Yeah I was definately looking at the sandwich kits for filtration and the ease of the adjustability and adding on other things rather than a T (which I heard easily breaks off sometimes)

i'm not really sure if there's a big difference in 1/4 times between the 15G and the 19T but i know that the 19T can flow better than the 15G and can handle higher amount of HP, i wanna at least run mid 15s with this kit at 5.5 psi of boost/my shitty driving/shitty tires... i might even be able to get low 15s but i don't wanna be cocky...

not quite, but everything is bolted up... its looking so sweet, but when we tried to start it up last night it wouldn't! but after careful searching we came to the conclusion that it was the e-manage wiring...

Everything was wired up right (proper wire and everything), but it was just how my friend wired it up

Here is how we wired it:

ECU === E-manage instead of

ECU === E-manage ===back to ECU...

during the install we ran into lil problems that held us back but i'll get into details later with some pictures for your viewing pleasures!

heh, proud to let you guys know, we got it started. Took it around the block a few times and I got to drive my frist turbo car. Gonna wait 500 miles til we can actually step on it though. We haven't put in the BOV or IC yet. But it will come soon. There is a little oil leak where the the braided oil line hooks up to the turbo. We willl fix that too. Also we kind of need to re-sotter the wires on the e-manage. Friend cut the wires super short to the stock ecu clip. So it was hard to add another wire on there. And if we tilt the ecu the wrong way, it will run really crappy, like its only using 3 injectors. We might go get the BOV welded in today. Will keep you guys updated.

Put the BOV in asap. TD04's are tiny. You will surely hear that surge each time you shift. I had that problem before.

i can't agree more on the compressor surge....i feel like i'm hurtin' the damn thing... hopefully tomorrow it'll be welded on, as for now i'm about to order the boost gauge, turbo timer, boost controller, all that good stuff...

Since you dont have the boost gauge yet, make sure that the wastegate vacuum line is connected tight on the compressor. If that vacuum line ever comes off while boosting, you will boost spike and possible damage your engine..... be careful chong

the only problem is, that when we tried to put the BOV on, we cut the vacuum line that is in sohc's other thread, and well. The line was way to big for the T connector we got. We tried starting the car when that line was cut and nothing was attached and the car idled at like 3500. So we have to try and fix that now. Whats the best line to use when putting on the BOV?

hey dude,

i know its tempting to take it out right away, but i suggest before taking it out again get your IC and BOV installed and then let it idle for a few minutes checking all connections and just "listen" to the engine. that way you can see if any problems are occuring in the safety of your garage. dbl check your ecu wiring because that is big part and your dont want to have that mess up while driving. i hope you also have at least 91 octane in your tank already so you won't detonate when test driving.

good for you on knowing to wait at least 500 miles to let the seals set. also, when your done and after driving a few days, check your oil lines, especially the oil return because that is known to leak unless you welded it.

BOV lines should be your normal sized vacuum hose (i dont remember what the size is off the top of my head) but the included tubing should fit.

i remember when i got mine all done and went to start my car, i saw the white steam coming off the turbo and i freaked until my boy explained it was normal. also, when i was driving around, my intake pipe to the turbo fell off!!! no biggy... but putting it back on with no tools on a HOT turbo sucked, so be sure to bring some tools with you. i always leave tools in my car now just in case anything ever happens.
