Exhaust SOunds and Looks

I saw the earlier post that directed me the website with the sounds and that was pretty cool. One thing I really dont like about aftermarket exhausts is the high pitched whine and the 4 inch barrels. I was wondering if anybody knew of a exhaust system that sounds a little lighter and isnt big as hell at the hend. Please help cause I really want a new exhaust. Thanks.

The HKS sport exhaust with the R2 tips are dual tips and look stock. As for sound, it's not loud at all and meets California's noise level law. http://www.hksusa.com/info/download.asp?id=1585# <----Hks tips in pdf so follow the link and then click the "download" box and that'll be in PDF format so you need Adobe Acrobat reader(download link on same page). The tips I am talking about are the R2 pictured ones. The R1 tips are of the same design of the R2 tips but the R1 tips are single tip dual exhaust (for like the 2nd generation Rx7,300zx,etc). The R2 tips is a single exhuast with dual tips.

Also the old school MUGEN exhuast that are also dual tips sound and look good also. But I dont think MUGEN still makes them and they are VERY hard to find used. Hks still makes the R2 sport exhaust but they might not make it for your car so you can order one for a different car but that'll fit on yours with some slight pipe mods. Exhausts that are loud with a big tip of tip(s) are nasty and annoying in my opinion. Back in the late 80's early 90's the import scene was the best. Now a days, there are some UGLY imports on the road. It's not as fun as it us to be.

As for ugly imports I defiently agree with you...my fraternity had a car show today and there were a bunch of ugly imports. I just want my new car to look stock but add a few things...i have 15" wheels right now, I want 17s...i want a cold air intake and a muffler...that will probably be it...i would like to lower it a tad...like half an inch...not too low...but i dont think i can drop it that low.

i would reccomend the oval ones. their sound is very deep, and do not sound like rice coffee cans. i actually get compliments on mine from the domestic guys.

in order to get any hp from an exhaust u need to increase the piping size from the header back....a muffler wont do much..just changes the sound coming out
