since the dc short shifter was mentioned, i know people and have heard from others about this shifter breaking while shifting. b&m and neuspeed are the best imo

I bought an Ebay $12 shifter for my 96 Civic Ex, and I am having some trouble with it. First of all, my friend, who was helping me out while I was under the car held the shifter backwards while I bolted it up, which sucks. I also left out the rubber cup which I assume fits over the shift ball, because my friend said that he left his out on his '97, and just used the little plastic collar thing. The result is that my shifter works; however, is not only backwards, but it is also very loose (I move it up and down quite a bit) and it rattles badly.

Obviously I am going to redo the whole thing, my question is about the "bushings" you guys are referring to. Is this the bushing that fits inside the end of the shifter, or is it the cup that holds the ball joint? Also, I used the two included washers in between the end of the shifter and the fork of the shift linkage. Will installing the oem rubber cup next time take the play out of my shifter, or is there something I'm missing?

thanks

I have the Focuz integra short throw. Had it for 3 years now with no problem. It was free, so I dont know exactly how much it is. The integra short shifter that I have is angled. To be honest, I wouldnt thrade my short shifter for anything else but DC....

so did you reuse the stock rubber cup and plastic collar to go around the ball when you put it back in or what?

mine is really loose, and I have to take it all out anyways because its backwards, so what should I do? where exactly do these bushings that people keep referring to go?

yes you use the rubber cup. and as for the bushings they go on the end where the shift linkage connects to the shifter.

I got a b&m and mine was vibrating like crazy in 5th gear. A local shop just heat up my exhaust pipe and bent it slightly for about 10 dollars. It hasn't done it since. It was a $10 spent well

i got an eBay shifter as a gift from my beloved g/f and my friend and i installed it today along with the E.S. Polyurethane Bushings and leather boot with red stitching (looks great! ) the shifting feels crisp/direct/firm and way shorter than before... but i also happen to break that plastic piece that goes on top of the boot so right now it looks kinda funky...

anybody know where i can get a new one??
