Hood Release Lever Broke?

Um.... the hood release lever for my 94 Civic doesn't pop open my hood. I don't think there is a fuse for this. Any ideas on how I can fix it, besides bringing it to the shop. Thanks

broke how? Handle broke off? Just wont open? Are you sure youre pulling it over far enough (some have to go farther than you think they should)

and no, theres no fuse for it...its just a cable

The handle is still there. I pulled it back (more than I normally would) but it still doesn't open. Maybe the cable might be loose?

mine doesn't retract after you pull it....

Look behind the handle you pull... there should be a steel spun cable poking out of a plastic hose.. with a small cylinder on the end of the cable... if that's just hanging loose that's why it won't open. there should be a little bracket to slide the fitting (plastic cone shaped.. it's the last part of the hose before the cable pops out.) on to... then just put that cylinder on the end of the cable back in it's place on the back of the handle....

If that's attached chances are the cables snapped. Or it could be loose up by the latch.. Good luck getting it open w/o the cable though it's a pain.

I do just about ALL my own work on my car... but something like this I'd almost definetly pawn off on a shop... it shouldn't be that expensive (always get an estimate first and tell them to call in the case of any change in the billing) but it's a TOTAL pain in the butt and not worth frustrating myself with...

good luck.
