new rims/bolt pattern question....

1997 Accord EX 4cyl coupe

I'm looking at new rims online and was wondering if anyone can answer a few questions:

1. What is the bolt pattern for my make and model? I can't find the spacing in my manual.

2. How wide can I go? I've seen people in this forum suggest 7.5", I've also seen others say that is way too wide for an Accord.

3. Anyone know the pro's and con's of 17" vs. 16" rims. I know that the 17" rims look cool, but I've also heard that they are easily damaged if you hit a pot hole. I've also heard that the ride is bumpier due to the lower profile tires that need to be used. Any thoughts?

Thanx for any input....

I have a 94 accord and my bolt pattern is 4x100mm, yours should be the same. I would go with 17" rims. I have 17" konig verdicts and the only damage i have on my wheel is from me accidently dropping it when i put the lowering slrpings in. As far as ride, mine is lowered 2" and still rides great. The only downside to 17's is the price over 16's but its worth it. hope this helps

umm i dunno about your accord.. but according to specs and my car even... its a 4 x 114 bolt pattern.....

as to your questions... 7.5" is prob the max you can run without anybody modifications... so you would be fine... im personally running 7.5" in width... on 17's

now its not really the size of rims... well errr.... k lemma put it this way... its really the amount of rubber you put on the tires... on 16's your gonna be running around a 50 series tire which means you'll have a lil less of a side wall compared to stock.. when you on 17's you'll be in the 40 series... so you'll be running even less of a sidewall.... but if bending is what your totally concerned about running a 215-45-17 you'll be fine..... but like any rim whether its stock or runnin on 17's..if you hit a good hole at a good speed then yea expect same results:o

comparing diff in prices for 16's and 17's... your better off spending a lil bit more for them.. depending on which brands their almost around the same price range.... not just that but the accords fender area are made big so that at least a min of 17's would look good for our cars.... this is what mine looks like running on 17's

AZN nite ryder... is correct..

You should be looking at 4 x 114.3..

I wouldnt go wider than 7..

If you take a 45 profile tire on 17's, you'll be playing safe, I doubt you'll damage anything.

16's are too small for an Accord.

So 215/45/17 or 215/40/17..

Well, you can fit 18s, and I've seen 19s, but you might run into some probs there. Just get the correct offset, and don't get them too wide, and you'll be able to make it work. You'll have to be careful of your rims on potholes and stuff though. Those rims aren't cheap to replace, and neither will 18-19" rubber...
