silencers?

i got an apexi dunk muffler and well, it's a little too loud for my taste i was thinkin of getting the silencer for it, but someone told me i'll lose hp. is this true?

i really want to get one soon...so i'd appreciate any input..THANKS

Yes you will lose power.

The point of an aftermarket exhaust system is to open up the restrictive stock exhaust. The piping is much larger, generally has fewer and less drastic bends, and the muffler is less restrictive (hence the sound). A silencer, by design, blocks out much of the exhaust opening, letting much less sound escape. Unfortunately this also put s a damper on air flow.

I'd say go ahead and get the silencer. While you may simply negate the point of having purchased an exhaust while using it, you can simply remove it while at the track. It's actually what they're designed for- daily driven track cars whose owner's don't want the exhaust tickets.

And you'll still get the aggressive tone without the volume.

so, i will lose hp, but i gather it won't be too much since i didn't see a substantial gain from it anyway. i guess i can deal with that. how bout the noise? will it sound good, or at least better ?

yeah you will get a little lose w/ that install..
as for the sound it can be worry some w/a silencer in my opinion..
You might liek the sound but I would say listen to it and then decide if you want to keep it like that all the time or go w/out it...
