LOL, everything. I opened the box, looked at the instructions, and was like damn, I wont be able to do this. Maybe I can take it in to a local performance shop? Anyone know of one in the Los Angeles area?

ill try to help you. first you have to remove the stock air intake. the box is held on by 4 screws at the bottom, the tube is connected to the throttle body with hose clamps (im tellin this try to remember what a 96 engine bay looks like) once all that is removed, connect the two hoses of the intake tube to where they should go based on the stock tubing. then put the filter on clamp it on and you reset the ecu. send me a pic of the engine bay and i can give you better instructions

Nope, your car will eventually adapt anyway. Resetting the ECU is just an instantaneous way to reset it.

HondaTypeJ - you still having problems? I put an AEM in my '96 and remember most of it. PM me if you want - I can explain and maybe take some pics of what I'm talking about.

Taking the FR wheel & fender wall off makes it easier. After that, 90civiclxrider had it right.

if it had been awhile, you dont need to reset it anymore. Ur car should adapt to the CAI rite now, if it has been on probably few weeks or so.

UPDATE: Ok, I said to myself today..."!@#$ it!" I went ahead and did the install myself and I REALLY surprised myself. I think I have done it! Yay! Just a few questions....When I drive now, I can hear a light barely noticable hissing sound, kind of like a vaccum...is that normal? Also when I drive, the engine sounds a little different, normal? Everything else rocks, I have noticed a vast improvement on acceleration and overall performance...AEM rocks! So if anyone could answer my questions, that would be totally cool. I want to make sure I have done this right. BTW, I was so eager to drive after I did the install, that I forgot to reset the ECU. I drove to work and back, its not too late to reset it, right?

Hissing sound normal
Engine should sound WAY different under acceleration.
Not a vast improvement on performance, just sounds better and gets you a couple of ponies.
You can reset your ECU anytime.
-Turn off all accessories while doing this
-Don't hit the gas when you start your car

Ya, the engine does sound different now. especially when I accelerate. I do feel better performance though, maybe vast is the wrong word, but I do feel a difference. Anyway, thanks for your input! When you say, turn off all accesories, what does that include....radio....etc?

Everything that can be turned off... fan, A/C, stereo, everything. This is what I was told a long time ago. It might not be necessary, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

so to reset the ECU do I let it idle, shut it off, disconnect the negative terminal of my battery, then hook at back up and let the car idle again? That's it?
