Grinding

My car gears grind like every fifth time i shift into 3rd gear does anyone know what is wrong with it. Or is my tranny going to shit.

it's probobly synhro's... if you've caught it early enough you can probobly make it go away with changing to honda mtf or similar oil designed for manual transmissions NOT engine oil like is recomended...

Syncrhos' are a wear part so... they do go eventually usually it starts grinding around 60k plus...

Change your tranny fluid to mtf and keep changing it REGULARLY ever 20-30k.

ya i'm at 130k and all my gears grind, i'm going to have to swap out my flywheel and a couple other parts.

basically my whole clutch system is shot, i need to replace the flywheel, the springs, and the other crap that i forgot the names for.

grinding is USUALLY internal... it's usually the synchro's going bad...

replaceing the clutch will probobly not get rid of the grinding. Unless it's so shot it's not even getting engaged.

my transmission should be cool for like the next couple of months though right? Because this just gives me more reason to throw in a b16a or b18c. Also i replaced the tranny fluid with the honda stuff and it still grinds.
